For over 20 years, he worked long 12 hour shifts, with a variable day/night schedule, to provide for his family. Philip suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2010, forcing him into retirement. He overcame several medical setbacks over the past 12 years, with a positive demeanor. He brought a smile to everyone who met him.

Philip took great pride in his family, especially in his role as Papa to his 8 grandchildren. In addition, he enjoyed customizing his 1997 Harley Davidson Softail with chrome and going on cruises to warm places like the Caribbean, as he really disliked cold weather.
