Pete Suralis Sr. went home peacefully January 13, 2017. He was born August 19, 1923 in Jacksonville Florida. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Suralis. Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Carolyn Ellis Suralis. They were blessed with four children, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In 1949 Pete and Carolyn were married and moved to Riverview Florida where Pete became the largest hog farm producer in Florida. In 1964 he retired from hog and cattle farming and was awarded the waste management contract for a portion of Hillsborough County now known as East Bay Sanitation. He guided the company until 1988, thus retiring. Pete enjoyed bowling and for decades competed in local and statewide tournaments. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends and golfing. Fishing was Pete's passion as he spent years on Florida's rivers, lakes and bays; cane pole fishing for specs was a favorite. Pete was a veteran of WWII serving as an army engineer. He is survived by two sons and a daughter; Theodore (Ted) Suralis of Riverview, Pete Suralis Jr. (Butch) of Riverview and Danita Dickman of Ruskin Florida, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday January 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows in Riverview Florida. The family will receive guests one hour prior.
