Patricia L. Ournac-Smit, 90, was born in Lock 4, Pennsylvania in 1932 to the late Leda and Felix Ournac. Preceded in death by her husband, John L. Smit Jr., son John III, daughter Susan Lynn Smit, and sister Norma Jean. Pat moved from Lock 4, known today as N. Charleroi, after graduating from high school to New Jersey.
Pat worked as a ticket agent for Eastern Airlines in the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for 35 years – within that time she met and married John L. Smit Jr. on November 8, 1969. They formed a loving family along with their three children Robin Ann, John III, and Susan Lynn. They lived in Dumont, New Jersey for 21 years before moving to Florida in 1992. In 1994 they moved into Summerfield Crossing in Riverview.
Pat's hobbies were her drawing and painting. She attended art classes for both. Pat enjoyed water aerobics and attended classes at her pool in Summerfield Crossings. She enjoyed the beach and playing board games with both family and friends. While watching TV, she enjoyed working
on her crossword puzzles, reading her magazines, and polishing her nails. Pat was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a friend to many and many loved her. Pat was best described as kind, classy, and fun.
Survived by her daughter, Robin Ann Gavin, three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, and Marty, five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Sophia, Jayson, Martin, and Anthony, a granddaughter-in-law, Dawn, as well as cousins, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews, and close friends.
