Obituary

Patricia Ann O'Reilly Hauser, cherished Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Godmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend to all, departed this life to Eternal Life, January 1, 2025.

Patricia was born April 11, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Irish immigrant parents, Francis Augustine O'Reilly and Margaret Breslin O'Reilly. She graduated from her beloved Saint Basil the Great Academy, an all-girl's Ukrainian Catholic High School.

At the age of 19, with the reluctant permission from her father, Patricia married the only Love of her life, Edward, in 1954, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Philadelphia.

Edward and "Patsy" enjoyed a wonderful Air Force military life stationed in a variety of U.S. cities and overseas in France. Edward retired out of MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida in 1974, settling the family in Brandon, Florida. While stationed in France, they adopted three babies from Germany over a three-year period: Edward, Daniel and Margaret Mary. In the next two years, Gerard and Christopher were born stateside in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Patricia's entire life was dedicated to her love of God and her family. With her whole heart, she selflessly, joyfully and completely, gave of herself. She lost her own mother to breast cancer when she was only four years old and was raised by her wonderful father and three older brothers. Even having experienced this terrible loss for a child, she became the epitome of what a wonderful mother is…Love.

As a homemaker, Patricia created a nurturing and caring environment for her husband and children. She lovingly took on the role of teacher, catechist, nurse, doctor, counselor, referee, camp director, comforter, chef, housekeeper, zookeeper, cheerleader, scout leader, vacation and travel guide, family historian and matriarch, keeping the family united through the ebb-and-flow of life's ups-and-downs.

Besides involving herself in every aspect of her children's numerous activities, Patricia had her own special interests; gardening, crafting, sewing, attending musical theater and dance, Irish concerts of any kind and road trips with the family. Given her love of children, she served for several years as a Guardian ad Litem and volunteered with Respect for Life organizations. Wherever Patricia lived, she was active in her home parish.

In the 1980's, Patricia officially went to work for several years as the financial secretary at her and Edward's favorite place, Mary Help of Christians Center. Here, she and Edward had been long-time Salesian Cooperators of the order of Saint Don John Bosco. So, this was a wonderful time and peaceful place to be employed, making lifetime friendships throughout, especially with the priests. Edward always called Mary Help of Christians, "a little piece of heaven in Tampa".

Patricia lit up a room with her external and internal beauty, charisma, storytelling and laughter. She was a wonderful listener, always putting everyone else first. Her and Edward's home was the place where everyone always felt welcome to come and gather and even stay, if they needed a place to live for a while.

These past several years, Patricia's love for life kept her fighting to the end. She never complained through all her medical struggles and pain, her enduring faith in Jesus Christ and love of the Blessed Mother Mary, carrying her through. Without her, there will forever be a void in our hearts, and she will never be forgotten. Mom, We Love You!

Edward passed away in 2011 following a long illness, with Patricia by his side and caring for him until the end. Patricia is survived by her sons; Edward (Cindy), Daniel (Joyce), Gerard, Christopher (Theresa), Matthew Camero, daughters; Margaret Mary, Robyn Walk (goddaughter), Hope Hauser and Ann Marie Feeney, grandchildren: Christina (predeceased), Christopher Francis, Damien, Jeramy, Christopher Ryan, Jessica, great-grandchildren; Dylan, Madeline, Krysta, Ava, Bailey, and great-great grandchild; Greyson. Also, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family living in Philadelphia and Ireland.

Thank you to all the medical personnel who cared for Patricia, but especially the extra loving care provided by Dr. Antoinina Watkins, Dr. Beth Belof-Jasko, Dr. Robert Lorch, Nicholas (P/T) and Sarah (RN).

We also thank all the neighbors, friends and relatives who continually called, sent cards and flowers, visited and prayed for Mom during the years of her illness. This meant the world to her.

And a special thank you to Father Steve Dumais, Deacon Ed Anctil and All the Mary Help of Christian's Family who physically and spiritually fed Mom's body and soul, each and every week.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Priests For Life, (priestsforlife.org)
