Adams, Oren E., 91, of Gibsonton, passed away on February 4, 2009 . Oren was born on July 15, 19 17 , in Adamsville , FL to Roy O. and Vernila Adams. His grandparents, Earl and Rose Adams, were pioneer settlers in Florida , founding the settlement of Adamsville. His love of the outdoors seemed to have guided his life, in that, he loved to hunt and fish. His favorite spots were fishing Tampa Bay or hunting the Everglades . His worked for over fifty years as a tropical fish farmer and was known in the community as the "granddaddy" of tropical fish farming.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elouise Ratliff Adams; parents, Roy O. and Vernila Adams; and sister, Twila Graves.
He is survived by his loving family, children, Kenneth Adams and wife Gail of Gibsonton, FL; Sandy Scott and husband Frank, of Wesley Chapel, FL; Shirley Best and husband Virgil of Riverview, FL; and Linda Lennard and husband Charlie, of Laurel Hill, FL; sister, Ruby Oneal; brother, Don Adams; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
There will be a funeral service on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Frank A. Scott, Sr., of First Baptist Church of Wesley Chapel, FL, officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service. Oren will be interred at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park , Garden of Peace . Serving as pall bearers for the service are his grandsons, Lon Prevatt, Charlie Lennard, Jr, and Todd Best and grandsons-in-law, Jerry Clark, Brian Cox, Ralph Schwilk, Jamie Holliday, Brad Knapp and Brian Johnson. Oren was loved and cherished by his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a kind and humble man.
