IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nydia Ramonita
Orozco-Davila
July 20, 1954 – February 21, 2025
Nydia Ramonita Orozco-Davila, born on July 20, 1954, passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of Friday, February 21, 2025, surrounded by the love and care of her family. In her final moments, her children and loved ones came together to ensure a peaceful and restful environment, honoring her wishes to remain in the comfort of her home.
Nydia dedicated her entire adult life to the field of social services. She earned two master's degrees: a Master of Science in Human Services and a Master of Social Work. She began her career in social services with the National Puerto Rican Forum in Hartford, Connecticut, later working as a clinical social worker at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. She retired as an adjunct professor with Springfield College, School of Human Services after 20 years in higher education, where she influenced and mentored countless students in their pursuit of service and advocacy.
Nydia joins her brothers, Wilfred Simmons and Pedro Orozco. Nydia is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Richard D. Davila; seven children that are lovingly referred to as hers, his, and ours: Herman L. Valle, Frankie E. Valle, Orlando W. Valle, Nydia D. Davila, and Ana F. Davila-Pagnotta, Richard T. Davila, Ralph L. Davila; and together they had seventeen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved mother, Ana Esther Cortés-Roman; her inseparable maternal sisters, Ana Simmons, Esther Simmons, and Ida Colon; and paternal sisters, Norma Orozco-Ortiz and Hortencia Orozco. In addition to her immediate family, Nydia leaves behind a vast network of close relatives and dear friends, all of whom she spent a lifetime loving and caring for.
A service to honor and celebrate Nydia's life will be held at Serenity Meadows, 6919 Providence Rd, Riverview, FL 33578. The viewing will take place on Thursday, March 6, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Her Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, March 7, at 10:00 AM.
In remembrance of Nydia, we reflect on the words of Jesus in John 6:35, 40:
"Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty… For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.'"
May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her, and may the peace of the Lord be with those who mourn her passing.
