Norman Barry Cleghorn, born September 9, 1937, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2023, at home in Seffner, Florida surrounded by loved ones. He is preceded in death by his wife Maria, brothers Robert and Stephen Cleghorn, daughter-in-law Sandra Cleghorn and son-in-law Steven Kelly.
He was born and raised in Tewksbury, Massachusetts and remembered as an insatiable reader since early childhood and was an avid golfer. He joined the Air Force upon graduation in which he served 30 years as a weather forecaster and retired as CMSGT, respectfully earning the nick-name "Stormin Norman." He served as part of the readiness command for the Persian gulf war/Desert storm. He continued his forecasting career as a civilian, at Tampa International Airport. Pursuing his life-long love for learning, he earned two BA's and was a member of Mensa.
He is survived by his five children, Cynthia Valenti and husband Wayne, Michael Cleghorn, Stephen Cleghorn and wife Sandy, Sarah Sahms, Karen Kelly, brother Jack Cleghorn and wife Ellen, 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and his beloved shih tzu, Lollipop (Lolli).
Always opening his heart and home to others, he will fondly be remembered by those who needed a place to call home.
Norm will be remembered on March 4, 2023 from 1-3 pm at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, 6919 Providence Rd, Riverview, FL 33578
