Nina
Mcdevitt
September 5, 1951 — July 11, 2020
Nina McDevitt, 68, of Valrico, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on July 11 th . Nina passed peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital South with her daughter Calli and her son-in-law John at her side. Nina was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on September 5 th , 1951, to James F. and Veva L. McDevitt. She was the middle of nine children and was known for her tireless work ethic and ability to push others to do their best. Nina worked in a variety of positions in her life with the longest time spent working for US West in Denver, Colorado. During her career at US West, she rose from a clerk to a business analyst. Upon leaving that position, she pursued a bachelor's degree in Applied Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University and graduated cum laude in 1996. In her free time, Nina enjoyed crafting, gardening, painting furniture, and reading. In 2003, she combined households with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters. Nina considered the role she played in supporting her family through the ups and downs of military moves and deployments a way of serving her country. In 2011, the family settled in Valrico, Florida.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents James F. McDevitt and Veva L. McDevitt and her brothers James O. McDevitt, Robin McDevitt, and Stacy McDevitt. She is survived by her daughter Calli; her son-in-law John; her granddaughters Melissa, Meghan, and Madelynn; her informally adopted grandson Bassir; her brother Charlie; her sisters Barbara, Edith, Debra and Kitty; and cherished nieces and nephews.
In respect to her wishes, Nina's remains will be cremated and her ashes sprinkled, "Somewhere pretty like the mountains or the beach."
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to charities Nina supported, such as the American Cancer Society at cancer.org or America World Adoption Association at awaa.org , would be appreciated.
