Nelson Moncion passed away on September 2, 2024, at the age of 85 in Riverview, Florida. Born in La Vega, Dominican Republic, he was a cherished figure known by many names including Reberendo, Nelsito, General, and Mi Hijo, reflecting his vibrant personality and the deep connections he formed throughout his life.

Nelson was a beloved husband to Ana Luisa Garcia and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline Thompson, son-in-law Brian Thompson, granddaughter Briana Marie Thompson, great-granddaughter Luna Estrada, daughter Yocasta Guzman, son-in-law Genesis Guzman, and grandchildren Aryanna and Julian. He was preceded in death by his parents Ana Santana and Carlos Nelson Moncion, his son Carlos Moncion, and cousin Nelson Moncion.

Known for his exceptional sense of humor, Nelson was always ready with a joke or a sarcastic comment, bringing laughter and joy to those around him. He was a die-hard Mets fan with a profound love for music, often singing "Los Ojos Verde" to his wife, Ana. His artistic talents were evident in his breathtaking stained glass pieces and detailed drawings. An eternal critic of imperfect handwriting, Nelson insisted on the highest standards. His frugality and love for collecting were as much a part of him as his insistence that everyone understood Spanish, whether they admitted it or not.

Nelson was proud of his Dominican roots and looked forward to visiting Barahona to reconnect with his homeland. His dedication to his faith was reflected in his active participation at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Keansburg and St. Raphael Catholic Church.

Services to honor Nelson's life will be held in Florida at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, Funeral Home & Crematory, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. A brief viewing will take place in New Jersey at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. followed by a prayer service  at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery & Mausoleum, 361 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ, at 1:30pm.
