Michael Yasenchak, father of Victoria Rutledge of York, PA and Michael S. Yasenchak of Chambersburg, PA , passed away after a brief illness on December 21st, 2023. The son of the late Joseph Yasenchak and Anna Putanko Yasenchak, Michael was born in Larksville, PA and had only recently celebrated his 99th birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Frances H. Yasenchak, who passed away in 2006.

Michael had a long and successful career as an architect. For many years he worked in his adopted hometown of York, PA, writing architectural specifications for a variety of school, church, hospital, manufacturing and commercial projects. In 1979, he and Frances decided to try something bold and they were off to Tel-Aviv, where he headed up the Specifications Department of the Negev Airbase Constructors building two new airbases for the Israeli Air Force. After two years, a follow-on assignment with Frank Basil International saw the couple relocating to Athens, where Michael would head up the Specifications Department designing the new Cosimo Air Station in Sicily. Michael and Frances moved to Florida in 1987 and Michael would continue to work well into his 80's with various Tampa area firms. Chief among his contributions during that time was his work on the expansion of the Tampa International Airport.

Michael and Frances were longtime members of the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon. After Frances' death in 2006, he continued to be an active member of the church, serving as a volunteer with the church's Meals on Wheels program up until the month before his passing.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Brandon, 121 Carver Avenue, Brandon, FL 33510 on Sunday January 14th at 9:30 AM. All are welcome. In accordance with Michael's final wishes, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, st.jude.org in lieu of flowers.
