IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Wayne
Smith
December 11, 1972 – June 9, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Smith.
Born in Houston, Texas, to Fielden Persifer Smith Jr. and Mary Lee Smith, Mike—known by many in the carnival world—was a dedicated and hardworking man who found his purpose and passion in the carnival industry. He especially loved working with the rides, taking great pride in The Extreme. To many, it was just another ride, but to Mike, it was something special—a source of joy, excitement, and most importantly, smiles. Later, he worked on the Sky Tram, and he cherished the moments he got to travel and set it up at state fairs across the country. More than anything, Mike loved the rhythm of the season—the excitement of the fair circuit and the comfort of returning to the shop afterward, a place he called home. At Wade Shows, Mike was more than an employee; he was family.
Mike will be remembered for his dedication, his warm spirit, and the friendships he built along the way. He is survived by his carnival family, his cousin Terry Brinson, and countless friends who shared the road, the work, and the memories.
In honor of Mike's life, there will be a special gathering and one last ride, celebrating the joy he brought to so many.
Rest easy, Extreme Mike/ Sky Tram Mike.
