Obituary

Michael V. Radicchi, 60, of Valrico, FL and formerly of Binghamton, NY passed away on April 22, 2011 at LifePath Hospice in Sun City Center, FL after a year long battle with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. He was predeceased by his parents Rose & Ettore Radicchi, his brother William Radicchi, and his nephew Joel Radicchi. Michael is survived by his loving wife Laura, his son Brian (Mekea) Radicchi and grandchildren Mya and Jake of Vestal, NY, and his daughter Alicia Radicchi of Syracuse, NY. Also surviving is his sister Virginia (David) Gooding of Endwell, NY, his brother Joe (Petie) Radicchi of Cape Coral, FL, his sister in law Andonetta Radicchi of Sanibel, FL , and his brother in law Steve Kur of New York City. In addition, Michael is survived by many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends in Florida and New York. Michael was a graduate of Broome Community College and a graduate of The National School of Banking at Fairfield University. Michael retired from BSB Bank & Trust in 2001 as Administrative Vice-President after a 30 year career. That same year he and Laura moved to Tampa Bay where he was employed by SunTrust Bank until his retirement in 2006. He worked at University of South Florida Federal Credit Union until health issues forced him to retire in September of 2010. Michael was a former member of Brandon 86 Rotary Club, Brandon Chamber of Commerce and an alumni of Brandon Leadership 2007. Michael was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling, playing cards, tending to his backyard Koi pond and spending time with family and friends. Seldom has a man displayed truer courage in the face of continued medical adversity. A kidney transplant in 1983, heart attack in 2003, and a heart transplant in 2008 did not deter Michael from living a rich full life. His smile, kindness and sense of humor will be missed. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Tampa General Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center, LifePath Hospice and the many friends who were so kind and supportive through these difficult times. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday April 29, 2011 at 11:30 am at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to LifePath Hospice Development Dept., 12973 N. Telecom Pkwy Suite 100, Temple Terrace, FL 33637 OR TGH Foundation/Help A Heart Fund, PO Box 1289, Room H-149, Tampa FL 33601. In death, we are not defined by what we did or who we were, but by how well we loved and were loved in return.
