Goldonowicz, Michael J., 61, of Brandon, entered into eternal life surrounded by his family and wrapped in love and prayer on Wednesday, April 06, 2011. Born in Taunton, Massachusetts on September 03, 1949, Mike had been a local resident of Brandon, Florida for 25 years.
A graduate of St. Anselm's College in Manchester, New Hampshire and Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mike earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology and master's degree in Special Education. Mike shared his talents by working with children with physical and mental disabilities as a Special Education teacher for 35 years before retiring in 2008.
He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church where he was active as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a part of the money counting ministry. Mike enjoyed family time, traveling, bargain shopping, game nights and movie nights, and spending time in New England. He shared a great sense of humor, a perpetual positive attitude, and a quiet but steadfast faith that have been blessings of example and joy to everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Janice, daughters; Jessica Marie Goldonowicz, Joanna Marie Goldonowicz, mother; Emily Goldonowicz, brother; John Goldonowicz, and sister; Carol (Joseph) Catanzano.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Mike's life will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a. m. at church prior to Mass. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to "Building Our Future Together" c/o St. Stephen Catholic Church, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico, Florida 33596.
