IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Leslie
French
July 22, 1957 – March 15, 2022
Michael Leslie French "Mike", 64, of Valrico, Florida passed away March 15, 2022 at home comforted by his wife Lisa by his side. Taken too soon by cancer.
As the son of an Air Force retiree, Michael grew up at several US Air Force Bases in the United States and England. After attending Sault Area High School in Michigan and graduating from Revere High School in Bath, Ohio, as a young man joined the Navy and was introduced to the world of computers as part of his military training. Mike took advantage of his many travels and opportunities to further his electronic and computer education and graduated from Jamestown Community College with an Associate Degree in computer Science. He consequently enjoyed a fulfilling career in IT, statistics and data management where he prospered well.
Michael is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Lisa Michelle (Singletary Brooks), his daughter Jessica (John Whittaker), his treasured granddaughter Olivia of Seffner, Florida, and a son, Donald French of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his sister Rene' (Phillip Shimmon) of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Evelyne-Lyndy (Larry Pietrangelo) of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan and Lorraine-Lolly (Joseph KcKenna) of Sinclairville, New York, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His extended family loved and called him Mike, Grandpa and Papa Mike: Amanda Brooks (Scott Buttocolla) Cabot, Phoenix, Kali, Remy; Meagan Anklam (Adam) Dylan, Raylan, Andrew; Matthew Brooks (Dana Chirico)
Michael was preceded in death by his father TSgt. Orvall Madison French of Bath, Ohio, his mother Nancy Beverly O'Dell, (Snyder) of Jamestown, New York, stepfather James O'Dell of Jamestown, New York and a younger sister, Jennifer Leigh O'Dell (2009) of Dunkirk, New York.
Playing his guitar and writing love songs to the people he loved was second only to reading his treasured books and going on cruises with Lisa. Cooking and baking always drew a crowd into his domain – the kitchen.
Michael with his intelligence, kindness and wicked sense of humor has truly been a blessing and enrichment to all our lives.
This journey through cancer has been painful and heartbreaking. Mike's entire family is humbled, honored and thankful for the support, kindness and prayers of everyone who touched Mike and Lisa's life. Special thanks to his employer, Southern Grazer Wine and Spirits for there steadfast concern and generosity.
Thank You
