Merle J. Hampton, 85 was a lifelong resident of Tampa Florida. She passed away January 15th 2012, at home in Riverview. Born in Tampa's Ybor City on October 3rd, 1926, to Flora Metcalf Lazzara of Denver, CO. & Dominick Lazzara of Sicily, Italy, the owners of Lazzara's Radio & TV in Ybor City, where she grew up. Merle was a Beautician for 48 years as well as an artist. She painted photographs for Bryan Allen Studios in the early 50's, before going to beauty school. Merle had several Beauty Salons around the Tampa area and Riverview, where she resided since 1972. In the 80's Merle opened a Ceramic Shop in Palmetto Beach. She won many awards with her ceramics, including best in show. She leaves behind her only child, Marlene Hampton; and one granddaughter, Bonnie Koon, both of Riverview; one brother, Donald Lazzara; and nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Friday, January 20th, at 12 noon to 1:00 PM, with service to follow at 1:00 pm. Serenity Meadows, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL.
