Obituary

Spain, May, 95 years old of Brandon, FL, died suddenly at Brandon Hospital with daughters, Patricia Knudsen and Joan Kline, and son-in-law, Joseph Kline at her side. May was born on May 4, 1917 in Huntingdonshire, England to William and Ethel Smith Dixon. The family emigrated to the U.S. in 1928, and settled in Albany, NY. In 1935 May married Edward J. Spain who was to be a loving husband until his death in 2001. May is predeceased by her parents, husband, brother, Sydney Dixon, sisters, Mary Dixon Mallory, Dora Dixon Daub, and Joan Dixon Tietz, as well as grandsons, David Kampher and Michael Kline. She is survived by 2 daughters, and sons-in-law, a sister, 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. May was everybody's "darling", loved her garden and a good party as well as being a dedicated shopper. She and Ed greatly enjoyed traveling to visit family which was scattered across all 50 states. All are welcome to a local memorial service to be held at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. May will then travel to Albany, NY where she will rest beside her husband of 65 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to a charity of your choice.
