Obituary

MaryAnn Gaugh Shea, age 76, passed away February 27, 2020 in Riverview, Florida. MaryAnn was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 3, 1943. She married George Shea on March 21, 1965; they were married 54 years. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend and child of God.

MaryAnn touched the lives of many in her precious time with us. As the eldest of eight children, MaryAnn was a second mother to many, helping her mother raise her siblings. She and George raised their children in Sayville, New York, with their home open to family and friends who were always welcome; no one could visit without being offered a chair and a meal. She loved the holidays, and every year turned her home into a Christmas wonderland. Forever supportive, she brought bags of oranges to her sons' games, often sporting curlers in her hair for good luck while cheering the teams to victory. MaryAnn watched each of her grandchildren when they were little, embracing the grandmother role with creativity and spunk, just as she did everything else in life. MaryAnn had an incredibly strong faith and love of God. A devout Catholic, she would often pray for herself and others. MaryAnn was loving, caring, conscientious and kind. Her heart was full of love and charity, and she had an innate ability to make those around her feel extraordinary.

MaryAnn will be forever remembered by her husband and her sons, George (Marcia) and Michael (Mary) and her grandchildren, Jonathon, James, Kimberly, Emily and Kelly. MaryAnn is also survived by her siblings, Michael Gaugh, Veronica Johnson, Howard Gaugh, Jr. and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

MaryAnn is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ann Gaugh; as well as her siblings, Theresa Lehrmann, Helen Hunt, Kathleen Minasian and Daniel Gaugh.
