Mrs. Mary Jewell Kemp Reeves, age 94, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Friday, August 19, 2011 at Gordon Health Care Center. Mary was born October 28, 1916 in Bowdon, Georgia, a daughter of the late Lloyd Amos and Fannie Mae Grizzard Kemp. She was also preceded in the death by her husband, Olen Lewis Reeves, son, Oliver Wayne "Tiny" Reeves, daughters, Myra Jean Reeves, Martha Watson , Betty Nations, Grandchildren, Lewis Wayne Reeves, Rachael Reness Reeves, great grandson, Brieson Smith, brothers, Harold and L.A. Kemp Jr., sisters, Syble Bobo, Mary Weems, Ann Nelson.
She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church and she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a devoted Christian and loved to witness to anyone she could. She loved her family and friends. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Gerald and Judy Reeves of Calhoun,GA., daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and George Spano of Riverview, FL., Merian and Paul Miller of Calhoun, Ga., Cynthia Blankenship of Calhoun GA., son Lewis Reeves of Hendersonville,TN., daughter-in-law, Ann Reeves of Calhoun Ga., sons-in-law, Charles Watson of Knoxville,Tn., Luther Nations of Madison,TN., brothers and sisters-in-law, S.O. and Gurlene Kemp, Earl and Vivian Kemp; sister, Myra Crosby all of Anniston, AL; twenty grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, Several nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Jewell Kemp Reeves will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 4:00P.M. at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Hawkins, and Reverend David Gilmore officiating. Interment will follow the service at Myrtle hill Cemetery in Tampa, FL. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and family on Sunday August 21, 2011 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM and Monday from 3:00PM until 4:00PM at Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Belmont Baptist Church Building Fund in her name.
