Mary Lu Longmire Dixon, 72, was born on December 26, 1937 in Jacksonville, Florida to Jack and Eloise Longmire. She passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2010.



She had two siblings, Barbara Jo Eidem of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Franklin "Bo" Longmire (deceased) of Wenigerode, Germany.



She was a born and reared Floridian and spent most of her life in the greater Tampa Bay area, most recently Brandon. She was a part-time Bookkeeper for a Clearwater accounting firm and spent many years working for Publix Supermarkets in various positions.



Two children survive her: daughter, Loren Anne "Annie" Carter and son-in-law Ray Fluitsma. Her granddaughters are Amy Kathryn Trentalange, Dana Michelle Trentalange and Tara Loren Trentalange; and son, Silas H. Dixon III and daughter-in-law Shanna Dixon. Her grandson is Dash Dixon.



Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Dunkin Donuts iced mocha latt with sugar and whipped cream in one hand, good book and DVD from Blockbuster in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOOO HOOOO, WOW! What a ride!"



Mom, Memaw and Friend, you will be missed.



A celebration of her life will be held 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home.
