ROUTEN, Marvin (Shake), 78, passed away on December 30, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Ira and Ilah Routen on February 9, 1929, in Bloomington, In, Marvin proudly and honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and later fulfilled a distinguished 36 year professional career with the U.S. Dept. of the Army. Adored by family and friends alike for his caring and compassionate nature, Marvin touched the hearts and enriched the lives of all those who made his acquaintance. To most, he'll be remembered for his charm, his quick wit, and his infectious sense of humor. To others: his personal integrity; selflessness; generosity; and passion for life. To his buddies at Featherock, "marvelous" Marvin will forever be revered as a community leader, a formidable bocce ball player and, truth be told, a tenacious liability on the golf course. For all, he'll be remembered as one of the brightest stars in the sky. Preceded in death by his adoring daughter, Tami Routen, Marvin is survived by his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 57 years, Lita Lou (Sinclair); his sister, Florence Fox; his three sons: Steven, Mark, and Jeffrey; his two daughters-in-law: Barbara and Martha; his three grandsons: David, Ryan and Eric; and his two step-grandsons: Chris and Scott Francis. In preference to a formal memorial service, a casual, festive celebration of Marvin's extraordinary life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 19, at the Featherock Community Social Hall, 2200 Hwy 60 East, Valrico, FL. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lifepath Hospice of Florida or the American Lung Association.
