Obituary

Cox, Marvin L., 76, of Brandon went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2009. He fought a hard battle against cancer. He was strong and stayed active during treatments, continuing his lawn care business until January of this year. Before retirement he worked for Publix Supermarkets for 25 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years Sharon Ball Cox; daughter Nancy (Joe Spooner) and grandsons Andrew and David Spooner; stepsons Bill, Mark and Robert Traynham and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 39 years Joan Cox.

He will best be remembered as a hard worker who could never sit still. He had a heart of gold and was always available to help a friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and his friends from his Sunday school class at First Baptist Church of Brandon.

The family wishes to thank their friends for all their love and support over the past few months. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Moffitt Cancer Center for five years of excellent care, and to the nurses and staff from LifePath Hospice.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Marvin's name to the Moffitt Cancer Center "Head & Neck Program" or to the First Baptist Church of Brandon Building Fund.

The visitation and memorial service will take place at First Baptist Church of Brandon, 216 N. Parsons Ave. Brandon, FL 33510 on Monday, May 18th. Visitation at 10AM, memorial service at 11AM. Burial will follow at Aripeka Cemetery in Spring Hill, FL.
