With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Mark Alan Gersting, 68, of Valrico, Florida, who passed away on April 9, 2025.

Mark had a passion for aviation, earning his pilot's license while still in high school—a love that stayed with him throughout his life.

He dedicated 38 years to Honeywell before retiring in 2022, but his proudest role was that of "Papa" to his seven beloved grandchildren—six granddaughters: Lauren, Olivia, Paige, Hailey, Kate, and Lily, and one grandson, Austin—all of whom lit up his world.

He is survived by his daughter, Autumn Etheredge, and stepchildren Vanessa Collier, Matt Heinz, and Brett Heinz. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gina Gersting; his brother, William Robert Gersting; his sister, Janna Agger; and his son, Matthew Gersting.

Mark will be remembered as the one you could always count on—ready to help, quick to fix, and always showing up when it mattered most. There was never a problem he didn't want to solve.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved. And we know we can always look to the skies for comfort—where his spirit soars freely.

A memorial service to honor Mark's life will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 4:00 PM at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 3315 S Bryan Rd, Brandon, Florida 33511. The service will also celebrate the life of his mother, Gina Gersting, who preceded him in death on March 24, 2025. All are welcome to join in remembering their lives and legacies.
