Marjorie Lynn Patrick, of Brandon, Florida, much loved mother, sister, grandmother, and wife surrendered to her life-long battle with multiple sclerosis on August 2, 2011 at age 70. Margie was born in Bay City, Michigan on February 20, 1941. Throughout her life, she lived in Michigan, Illinois, North Carolina, and Florida. She was a resident of Brandon Health and RehabilitationCenter for 15 years, where she became a treasured part of their family. Marge loved sailing, fishing, racing Corvettes, crossword puzzles, Captain James T. Kirk of the original Star Trek series, and endless ice cream and pizza. She always had a ready smile and sparkle in her eyes while sharing her sense-of-humor with those around her. Her indomitable spirit shined through her devastating disease and inspired all she met.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Sandy Patrick and Deb Patrick; sons-in-law Steve Newgent and Steve Blackmon; brother Jim Cahalan and sister-in-law Liz Cahalan; grandchildren Kyle Haiges and Robyn Haiges; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; former husband Don Patrick; and many beloved friends. Marge was preceded in death by her parents Major and Dorothy Cahalan, and her sister Judy DeBats.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, August 6, 2011 at SerenityMeadows Memorial Park, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL. Please join the family at a 10:00 am gathering with a brief memorial service to follow at 11:00 am.
Those who wish to make an expression of sympathy to the family may donate to the MS Society of Central Florida, an organization and resource that helped Marge and her family throughout the years.
Margie will be dearly missed. Keep those Irish eyes smiling!
