IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie A.
Nicolas
August 11, 1951 – March 10, 2024
Marie Altimise Nicolas, affectionately known as "Titine," passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, at 3:50 am, at Tampa General Hospital. She was 72 years old. Marie was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, whose kind-hearted, generous, creative, and charismatic personality touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on August 11, 1951, in Leogane, Haiti, Marie was the eldest child of Dieugade Nicolas and Julianna Abellard. She was a loving sister to Saint Lot, Patrick, Marie Laure, Gariel, Marie France, and Ritho. Marie shared her life with Jacques Thomas Vernet, with whom she had three children: Jhiems Vernet, John Vernet, and Marie Pascale Brown. She also welcomed John Peter Nicolas into her heart as an adopted son.
Marie's legacy extends through her many nephews and nieces, including Wesley Vernet, Goldy Nicolas, Jeff Nicolas, Jhiems Peter Nicolas, Gariello Nicolas, Lorgens Nicolas, Viory Lambert, Bestsaleel Lambert, Mirgens Nicolas, Rachel Vernet, Cathia Vernet, Nalobie Nicolas, Barthelemy Lenochka, Bethsaida St Juste, Bararity Lambert, and Sael Lambert.
In 2008, Marie immigrated to the United States and made her home in Jacksonville, Florida, where she resided with her daughter Marie Pascale and son-in-law Ha'Ron Brown, providing loving care to her grandchildren.
Marie was renowned for her remarkable selflessness and boundless compassion. Her heart overflowed with love, particularly evident in her passion for cooking and baking, which she generously shared with others. Her dedication to serving her community and extending a helping hand to those in need was unwavering.
Above all, Marie's devotion to her children and her unshakeable faith in Christ defined her character. Her relationships were built on genuine care and kindness, fostering deep connections within her community and church. Through her actions and presence, she left an enduring impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her, leaving behind an indelible mark that will be cherished for years to come.
She is survived by her four children and twelve grandchildren: Danajia, Ha'Ron II, Jahanna, Ruthney, Jhiems, Nevaeh, Jeremiah, Leia, Nerissah, Zarah, Amiyah, and Ishamel, with a great-grandchild, Kaden Kerton Vernet, soon to arrive, brought into the world by Danajia and Devante Brothers, all of whom adored her deeply.
Marie will be fondly remembered for her quick wit, warm laughter, and compassionate spirit. Her family requests that she be commemorated for the joy she brought into the lives of others, rather than mourning her loss.
Let us observe a moment of silence in honor of her memory. Marie Altimise Nicolas will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her beloved grandchildren.
