IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret
Woodall
April 24, 1931 – July 12, 2023
Margaret Therese (Peggy) Woodall (nee O'Neill) was born April 27, 1931 in New York City, NY and passed away July 12, 2023 in Riverview, FL. She was 92 years young, and had been married to the love of her life, David Perry Woodall, for 61 wonderful years. Peggy, as she was known to all, was funny, outgoing, and giving. She was athletic and enjoyed a variety of sports. An avid skier and tennis player, Peggy also very much enjoyed golfing and kayaking in her later years, as well as traveling both in the US and internationally. Alaska, France, Japan, Germany and Turkey were among her favorite vacations. She loved nature and animals, was fond of the family's many pets and was an enthusiastic bird watcher, loved seeing the deer, fox, and raccoon visitors to homes shared by the Woodall family.
Peggy's first love was her family. She is survived by husband David Perry Woodall, three daughters: Patricia Ohlbach (Ron), Carolyn Hopkins (Jeff), and Barbara Kirby (Erik), grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Erin Hopkins Eckert (Maxx), Amy Hopkins, and Alex Hopkins of Texas, Elizabeth Kirby (CO) and William Kirby (NY), step-grandchildren Brandon Ohlbach (Kelly), Amanda Ohlbach and Christina Ohlbach; step-great grandchildren Jared, Aaden and Parker Ohlbach, all of IL.
Peggy loved cooking and baking, and Christmas was especially festive with homemade ornaments and cookies. An active member of the Catholic church, she sang in the choir in the parishes she attended. She frequently volunteered her time at church, as well as in NICU units
in AZ and CA, taking pictures of and holding newborn babies. She volunteered for many years at Oak Marr Rec Center with the Adapted Aquatics program in Fairfax, Virginia.
Peggy worked in the defense industry as an Administrative and Executive Assistant for companies like PRC, and Black and Decker. She was also a licensed Realtor in Northern Virginia in the early 1980's. She retired from the workforce in December 1998. She made friends easily, whether at work, volunteering, at church or at play. She could strike up a conversation on any subject, with anyone, anywhere, and was well-liked in her community.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel M. O'Neill, of Fairfax, VA and her father Edward, as well as her cousins, John and Lola Halpin, and her Mother and Father-in-Law, Stella and David Perry Woodall, Sr. Rest in Peace, beloved Wife, Mother, and Friend. She will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family is grateful for donations to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and Salvation Army.
