Obituary

Manuel Albert Campoamor Jr., "Manny" lost his battle with lung cancer on February 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Manuel was born in Tampa, FL on May 20, 1947. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel Albert Campoamor Sr. and Frances Campoamor; Brother- in- Law, Joe Tramontana. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years Virginia Tramontana Campoamor and his three children Gina Campoamor-Johnson, Leonor Campoamor, and Manuel Campoamor III (Megan Gillis Campoamor). Grandchildren: Hunter and Hannah Campoamor Magann, Steven and Colton Johnson, Montana McKnight-Campoamor, and Manuel Levi Campoamor IV. Great Grandson: Blake Campoamor Miranda. Manuel is also survived by his cousin Gloria Campoamor Nuccio; Sister-in-Laws: Marie Clark, Jonadean Gonzalez, Emily Hobson, and Rose Ann Favata. Brother-in-laws: David Tramontana, Frederick Tramontana, Eugene Tramontana, Tom Hobson, and Henry Gonzalez Jr. Manny is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Manuel and his family are Tampa natives. He is an alumnus of Brandon Senior High School and was the Co-Owner of Campoamor Modern Dairy where he worked until he began his career with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. During his fifteen year tenure at the Sheriff's Office, he received numerous accolades to include: The Hispanic Advisory Council Award in 1990 for his dedication to Law Enforcement, he was also awarded for his dedication to squad #22, received a certificate of commendation for his performance under the Special Operations Divisions, Executive Support Department, and during 1988 Manuel received a letter of appreciation for making 600 Criminal Arrests during the third phase of the PRIDE task force (Public Response Invoking Drug Enforcement). Manuel was also Vice -President of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Official Mounted Posse, 1988. Furthermore, Manuel was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the NRA. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. But, most importantly his greatest love was his family. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 4, 2016 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 120 North Knights Ave, Brandon, FL 33510. The visitation will be held from 6pm to 7pm and the service will be held immediately afterward from 7pm-8pm.
