Madeline R. Greene, "Grandma", 99, peacefully passed away at home in Apopka, FL on July 25, 2022. Grandma would have reached 100 y ea rs old in a nother month, but God called her home in advance.
She was predeceased by her Sicilian-immigrant parents, Giuseppe and Grace Remicci ; her husband of over 50 years , Julian J. Greene; her brother, Peter Remicci ; her sister, Ann a Scamardella ; her daughter, Elaine Swet t; her stepdaughter, Vivian Murray; and her stepson s Jimmey Green and Bailey Green .
Madeline is survived by her three children: James "Jimmy" Zinno , Jr. , J ulian "Joe" Greene, and John Greene , along with a step daughter, Faye Barnes. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, 27 great - grandchildren, and 3 great - great - grand daughters . Grandma truly treasured each and every one.
Grandma was born on Aug. 26, 1922 , in Wilton, NY , and lived her early life in upstate New York. Madeline later moved to Miami, FL , where she earned an Associate in Arts degree from Miami-Dade Junior College in 1972, a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Florida International University in 1974, and a Master of Science Degree from Nova University in 1984.
W hile in Miami, her various occupations included her faithful serv ice as a n apartment manager, a s a beloved elementary teacher at Immaculate Conception Catholic S chool for many years, a s well as a substitute teacher at Monsignor Edward Pace High S chool . She then launched a successful career in real estate, in addition to running a small local plant nursery business , Greene and Sons, with her husband.
Grandma always enjoyed ma king time to express her love to her precious family by cooking an impressive array of memorable delicious dishes for many large family parties held at her home. Her love of God, classical /operatic music, and her Italian heritage and language , s tands as a n ongoing inspiration to all her family . Based on her strong faith Madeline set a clear example of being a believer in Jesus throughout her life, while actively loving her family and caring for her husband to the end.
