IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorenza
Rodriguez
November 13, 1927 – February 18, 2024
Lorenza (Jenny) Mejia Rodriguez
13 November 1927 – 18 February 2024
On Sunday, February 18, 2024 our lives were forever changed. My mother Dona Jenny, passed away peacefully. Lorenza Rodriguez was married to Rafael Rodriguez. She was a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Lorenza (Jenny as she lovingly known by her family & friends) was born on November 13, 1927, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She was the daughter to the late Delfilio Mejia and Clotiada Nival de Mejia who were also from the Dominican Republic. She graduated High School in the Dominican Republic. She was very athletic as she
rode horses on her family farm and rode them in parades in Santo Domingo. She also played volleyball as well. Jenny went to New York City in 1952, where she mastered being a seamstress making clothes for a living. She lived in New York with her children Norma and Francisco. Lorenza retired in 1992 when she went back home to Santo Domingo, DR to live. She returned back to the states around 2010 to live with her family, daughter Norma and son-in-law Don in Virginia and granddaughter Desiree. She is survived by her daughter Norma Espaillat Thomas, her son-in-law Donald Preston Thomas, Jr, 6 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mami's son and my brother Francisco Espaillat passed away in 2017. She loved her family! And her family loved her very much as well. She had a great spirit that shined brightly where ever she went! Her smile was contagious to others because of her positive and optimistic attitude! She loved to travel and was blessed to travel to Germany, Italy, The Netherlands and throughout the United States. Wherever she went her joyful spirit was loved by all! She loved clothes! Loved to go shopping and get her nails done! She passed that on to her daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter! She was love! She loved to dance! She especially loved to dance merengue and salsa! She loved to unite the families and friends for special gatherings.
Her positive and joyful spirit was received by everyone that she met.
Her bright light will be missed by everyone!
