Leo Joseph Pilotte, USN (Ret), EN2, of Riverview, Florida died on March 12, 2011 at the age of 75. He was born in Detroit, MI on December 27, 1935. He served 22 and ½ years in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam War. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Business from Tampa College. He went on to operate two Texaco stations in Tampa, FL. He enjoyed racing, refurbishing antique cars, and spending time at the American Legion playing pinochle. He was survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Cathy; his daughter, Margie Wheatly and husband Arthur of Bothell, WA; his son, Jerry Kelting and wife Suzi of Everett, WA; his son, John "Doc" Pilotte and wife Melissa of Valrico, FL; his son, Leo Pilotte and wife Felaina of Valrico, FL; 4 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Leo and Edith Pilotte. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Serenity Meadows in Riverview at 7:00pm. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Legion, Alafia Post 148, in Riverview.
