Obituary

Lee Andrew Oliveira, 38, of Riverview, Florida, passed away on July 30, 2018. He succumbed to complications resulting from the serious injury he sustained in a motor vehicle accident in November of 2017. During his months of hospitalization, Lee dreamed of rehabilitation and recovery, and he took pleasure in the visits of his children to his bedside. Lee's family is deeply grateful for the skilled and compassionate care he received, and for the love, support, and encouragement that friends and extended family have given.

Lee was a beloved father, son, husband, brother, and friend. He and his twin sister Lisa were born in Recife, Brazil, on August 12, 1979. Their parents, Wesley and Tena Oliveira, rejoiced in their arrival after many years of wanting children. Two more children joined the family in the next few years-- Raquel and Jeffrey. Lee spent his childhood in both southern Brazil and Iowa. He traveled across Brazil and the U.S. with his missionary parents. The family left Brazil and settled in Florida in 1994 to minister to Portuguese-speaking people. Lee graduated from East Bay High School in Gibsonton, Florida, in 1998. He then pursued technical training, and found work in restaurants, floor cleaning businesses, and freelance website design. He took pride in working hard. He helped his father make contacts in the Portuguese-speaking community, and he developed ideas to promote and grow the ministry.

In April of 2010, Lee married Priscila Raposo in Manaus, Brazil. In the course of time, the couple left Brazil and settled near Lee's family in Florida, where they welcomed two children – Anna-Clara in 2012 and Jamie in 2013. Lee rejoiced in fatherhood. He beamed with pride at the accomplishments of his children, from first steps to first day at school.

Those who were close to Lee will remember his willingness to help others, his thoughtful gift-giving, his excitement for things he was passionate about, and his belief that God has a plan for all of us.

Lee is survived by his wife (Priscila), daughter (Anna-Clara), son (Jamie), father (Wesley), mother (Tena), sisters (Lisa and Raquel), brother (Jeff), sister-in-law (Taneica), niece (Twyla), and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and other family members across the United States, Brazil, Thailand, and England.  He was predeceased by paternal grandparents (Antonio Felix de Oliveira and Noemi Monteiro de Oliveira of Recife, Brazil), maternal grandparents (Andrew Post and Lucy Post of Sibley, Iowa), and a foster brother (Sergio Lapis da Silva).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 4, at 10:00 a.m. EST at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview, Florida.
