Boston, Larry D, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March, 28, 2018. Larry was born to William C. Boston and Imogene M. Burgoon of Sunbury, OH and grew up along with his six siblings on a family farm. After graduation he began his career as a farmer in Central Ohio while managing a part-time position as an insurance salesman. Working his way up through the company, Larry eventually became President of a new division established in the Tampa, FL area. He relocated his wife and four children to Brandon, Florida in 1973 and made that his permanent home.
Through his generosity and leadership, he touched thousands of lives during his 45 years in the Brandon area. As a firm believer in giving back, he was very involved in his community during and after retirement. He served on the board of numerous charitable organizations and volunteered his time as an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Some of his proud accomplishments included teaching confirmation classes (415 students) for 14 years, volunteering at the Care Pregnancy Center and helping to start the Brandon Area Emmaus Community. He was a dedicated family man, married to his wife, Sandra, for over 60 years. He was also very involved in the lives of his four children, 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, William C. Boston, his mother, Imogene Boston and his sister, Donna Wallick. Larry is survived by his loving family, wife of 60 years, Sandra; children, Bret (Sarah) Boston, Cheri (Richard) Kane, Diane (George Ohara) Boston, and Janet (Dana) Shaw; siblings, Wayne Boston, Anita Westfall, Ronald Boston, Charma Boston, and Curtis Boston; grandchildren, Daniel Boston, Rachel Bohn, Bryce Elliott, Chase Elliott, Kye Elliott, Stephanie Suiter, Dillon Kane, Emile Svitzer, Gerrick Svitzer, Logan Svitzer, Kira Svitzer, Fatima Svitzer, Spencer Shaw, Payton Shaw, and Reed Shaw; and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at New Hope United Methodist Church, 120 N. Knights Ave, Brandon, FL 33510. The family will receive visitors at the church one hour prior to the service and a luncheon will directly follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund at 813-689-4161
