Lance M. VandenBrock, "Mike", 59, passed away October 13, 2015 after losing his fight against pneumonia and unbeknownst to us all, multiple myeloma. He was born December 24, 1955. Originally from IL, he and his family moved to Fl in 1971. Mike graduated BHS in 1974 and attended HCC before beginning his career in automotive parts, eventually taking a parts manager's position at Brandon Chrysler. He worked there for 25 years. He also managed the parts department at Brandon Mitsubishi. He finished his career at Lakeland Chrysler. He has been happily retired for 3 years. A favorite saying was "we can do anything we want to, because we can!" He was preceded in death by his father, Emil, his mother, Vanona, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Mike is survived by his wife, Carol (MacFarland), the love of his life for 35 years, his brother Lane (wife Donna), 2 nephews, a great nephew, 2 great nieces, an aunt and numerous cousins. He also leaves an extended family of friends from school, his jobs, hot air ballooning, his interest in NASCAR, muscle cars and lastly the Munzee scavenger hunt game that he and Carol have been enjoying for the past 3 years. We will deeply miss him and remember all the good times. Memorable trips have included Las Vegas, Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiestas, the Grand Canyon, attending NASCAR races, Puerto Rico, Bahamas and Australia. Mike requested no funeral. However, a memorial service will be planned at a later date. Should you like to make a donation in Mike's memory, may I suggest ECHO (Emergency Care Help Organization), Little Red Wagon Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project or American Red Cross.
