Lance Corporal Nathaniel Joseph Augustus Schultz, of Brandon, 19, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2010 while serving with the United States Marines in Afghanistan. Born in Stuart, Florida, Nate had lived in our area since 2001 after moving here from Coral Springs, FL. After completing the Florida Youth Ranch Program, he graduated from Countryside High School in Clearwater. Nate joined the Marine Corps. in June 2009 and was promoted to Lance Corporal on August 1, 2010. He was a highly focused and dedicated Marine, and had been awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He enjoyed playing guitar, trumpet, saxophone, also hunting, hiking, fishing and the beach. He is survived by his mother; Lisa Naktin, father; Duane Schultz, sisters; Shahna Maggard, Stephanie Schultz, Charlotte Maguire, Deanna Maguire, Grace Maguire, maternal grandparents; George and Ilse Roberts, paternal grandmother; Antoinette Schultz, three nephews, a niece and his fianc; Britney Victoria. The family will receive friends on Friday (TODAY) from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL. 33578. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon, FL. 33511. A one-hour visitation will be held at church prior to service time. Burial with honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery following services.
