Obituary

On Wednesday, July 7, 2021, @ 8:40am Khon Tep , loving Mother of four children,  peacefully passed away at the age of 84. She was born to Am Chhouk (father) and Chan Lus (mother) in Svay Rieng, Cambodia on June 22, 1937. Her husband was named Thol Tep, a military Police commander and she was the younger sister to Chouuk Sun, both of whom have preceded her in death. She is survived by her four daughters, eleven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Neat Sar (Chantara and Satya), Nakry Ponn (Belinda, Amanda, Erica) , Narath Spinelli (Austin and Courtney) , and Nary Inthisane (Sylvanna, Sabrina (Myla), Brianna, and Angelina).

Khon Tep was brave, strong, independent, and intelligent. She escaped the Cambodian genocide and started a new life for her family by coming to Kentwood, Michigan in 1982. She was a community leader who spoke 3 languages. She held many prominent positions both in Cambodia where she worked for the C.A.R.E organization, as a head of an orphanage, and a chief international phone operator and in America as a teachers aid. Khon Tep graduated from Jordan college. After retirement she moved to Florida with her third daughter Narath. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and dementia in 2010 and spent the many years following in her daughter's care. In her final days in hospice she was in the presence of her family including all four daughters.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview, FL with the family receiving friends one hour prior to her service, from 2:00-3:00PM.
