WILSON, Kenneth Edwin, 67, of Valrico, passed away at home on November 16, 2016. Kind, gentle, and loving, Ken was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed. Born March 6, 1949 in East St. Louis, IL, he graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1967. He earned his bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University in 1971 and his master's degree in environmental engineering from Colorado State University in 1976. Ken worked as an engineer in the field of water and wastewater for more than 40 years, retiring in 2015. He was a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer, a member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, and a member of the Florida Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers. He also served on the American Water Works Association's National Standards Council for six years. Ken is predeceased by his mother and father, Dorothy (ne Lee) and Charles E. Wilson, and his niece, Jill McKown. He is survived by his adoring wife of 41 years, Michelle (ne Holtman); his children Erika (Nathan) Thompson, Zachary Wilson, and Peyton Wilson; his grandchildren Henry and Patrick Thompson and Liam Wilson; his siblings Sandra (Tom) Staub and Dale (Debbie) Wilson; his stepmother, June Wilson; several nieces and nephews; and many other family members, friends, and colleagues. A visitation will take place Monday, November 28 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Nativity Catholic Church, 705 East Brandon Boulevard, Brandon, with a funeral Mass immediately following in the church. The burial will take place just thereafter at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Nativity Catholic School.
