NESS, Kenneth Herman, 83,
Sun City Center, FL left this
earthly world and joined his Heavenly Father on
Monday, January 1, 2007.
Mr. Ness is survived by his loving wife of 59 years,
Lorraine "Miki" Winkelmann Ness,
sister; Margaret Zoellick (Ralph), Lansing, IL
daughters; Linda Mangnall (Rick), Elmhurst, IL
Peggy Rankin (David), Brandon, FL,
five grandchildren; Jonathan (Jennifer), David & Bryan Mangnall and
Nicholas and Kelsey Rankin,
two great-grandchildren; Joshua and Jillian Mangnall,
Ken was born to John and Gertrude (Hilleran) Ness,
in Ponca City, OK on July 7, 1923,
and raised in the Chicago area most of his life.
He was the Personnel Manager for Chicago Bridge and Iron Company
for 35 years.
Upon retirement he moved to Cherokee Village, Arkansas
before moving to Brandon, FL and finally to Sun City Center, FL in 2000.
Mr. Ness was a veteran of World War II and served in the Infantry
in the Asia - Pacific Theater.
Ken enjoyed all sports, especially devoted and loyal to
the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs.
He also enjoyed playing baseball, bowling and golf, accomplishing a hole-in-one
three times during his lifetime.
Mr. Ness was a devout Lutheran all his life, member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church and served the Lord for many years as an Elder in the
churches where he attended. Ken read his Bible and prayed every day
for those he knew, for those he didn't know and for his country and our
leaders.
He believed in community service and
received the Lions Club Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ken was a wonderful
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to
many people. All who met Ken liked him immediately
because of his kind, loveable and friendly personality.
He was a wonderful man and he will be missed greatly by all that knew him
and loved him.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2007 from
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at
Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2913 John Moore Road, Brandon, FL.
Contributions may be made in memory of Ken to
Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund.
