Obituary

Kenneth M. Keebler (11/21/1942-3/5/2026)

Of greatest importance to Ken was his faith, his family, his service, and the many endearing friendships he formed during his lifetime. He lived his life fully…

Kenneth “Ken” Keebler was born in Tampa, Florida. He was a graduate of Lakeland High School and University of Tampa. Ken served over twenty-two years in the United States Air Force, the first seven in various aspects of aircraft control, the remainder as a Special Agent, Office of Special Investigations. He commanded several detachments and retired as the Commander of the OSI Detachment at MacDill Air Force Base. During this time as an OSI Special Agent, he also was a senior field instructor in tactical counterintelligence, personal security investigations, and protective service operations, and was the OSI Liaison Officer to CENTCOM.

Ken joined USAA becoming the Manager of USAA’s Southeast Region SIU, responsible for SIU’s insurance fraud and arson investigations and other investigative operations in the southeastern eight states, until his retirement in 2001. Later he was a consultant for insurance companies on management, training, and operations involving insurance fraud and arson investigations

Ken was a member of a number of professional organizations, such as Gulf Coast Chapter of the Association of Former OSI Special Agents; the Air Force Association; the Military Officer’s Association of America; the Association of Former OSI Special Agents; AMVETS Post 44; Veterans of Foreign Wars; the Florida Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators; Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention; Central Florida Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units; Eastern Region Advisory Committee of the National Insurance Crime Bureau; Chair of the Fraud Committee of the Florida Insurance Council; and one of the founders of the Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee. He had received the Distinguished Service Award from both FIFEC and FACAP and the Lifetime Membership Award from FACAP. As the Chair of FACAP’s Fire Service/Law Enforcement Subcommittee, he initiated a full scholarship program for fire service, law enforcement officers, and prosecutors’ attendance at FACAP’s Annual Training Seminar. He was a State-certified regular guest instructor on arson investigations at the State Fire College in Ocala. He was an instructor on Command and Control of Narcotics operations to law enforcement officers throughout the US and served on the legislative committees of Florida’s Medical Health and Insurance Fraud Task Force and the Governor’s Strike Force Against Fraudulent Enterprises. He was a published author on SIU Operations and drafted, promoted, and testified before Florida Legislative Committees in favor of anti-fraud/arson legislation, and had been a speaker nationally on those subjects.

Ken and his wife Lynn of 64 years, settled in Valrico, Florida and enjoyed their family Kent (Diane), Kip (Kim), Kristen, grandchildren (Austin, Brielle, Kassidy, Ella, and Rhone) and great-granddaughter (Kinsley). He is survived by his brother (Van) and many extended family members.

Among many things, Ken enjoyed waterskiing, coaching soccer, and playing softball (even over 50). He enjoyed being with family, friends, and colleagues, exchanging stories and talking for hours. Ken never met a stranger and we each have a “Ken” story. We are blessed to have fond memories of love, laughter, and Ken’s spirit for life.

The Keebler family wishes to express their gratitude for the many expressions of kindness, prayers, and love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
