Cowart, Karen Ann Seiferd, 60, of Temple Terrace, went home to her heavenly Father on September 28, 2014. Born May 7, 1954, in Point Pleasant, NJ, she moved to Florida in 1969 to begin high school at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale. Already an avid tennis player, she played on her high school team with Chrissie Evert, winning the State High School Championship in 1972 with Chrissie as her doubles partner. She continued to play tennis in the Tampa area after she moved here in the late 70's. Karen's passion was working in group homes with the developmentally challenged, spending sixteen years at Angels Unaware, and several years at the McCullough Group Home. Thank you to Melech Hospice House, they are truly angels. She is survived by her sisters, Mary E. Seiferd, and Jan Hudgins; brother, Vincent L. Seiferd, Jr. and sister-in-law, Kit, and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her four cats, who meant the world to her. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, with a visitation one hour prior.
