Joseph Raymond Gesek, 67, of Riverview FL, passed away Wednesday morning December 17th at Brandon Regional Hospital. He is survived by and will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 32 years, Carol Tucker Gesek. Joe was born in Scranton Pa and was the son of the late Edward and Mary Parkton Gesek. He is survived by his daughter Heather Lambert and son Sean Gesek, both of Stroudsburg Pa; brothers, Edward Gesek and wife, Linda, New Mexico, the late Albert Gesek Sr. and surviving wife Linda, Dalton, Pa; his sister, Beverly Seamans and husband, Roger, Factoryville; 2 grandchildren, Brenna and Brock; along with several nieces and nephews. Joe served in active duty for 6 months and then several years in the National Guard reserve. He held various positions during his 25 yr. career with Bell Atlantic/Verizon, the final 15 years serving as Regional Manager of Switching Services in Stroudsburg PA. Upon his retirement from Bell, he and Carol relocated to Orlando, FL where he worked 7 years as Senior Switch Engineer for Nortel Networks. During that employment, they relocated to the Research Triangle Area of Raleigh, NC and then back to Sunrise FL where he worked for the Nortel Central American and Latin division. Upon retirement, he and Carol moved to the West Coast near the Tampa FL area and have lived there for his remaining 10 years. Joe will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his wicked sense of humor and his general enthusiasm for life. He loved cars, tinkering in garage workshop and most recently, loved watching the old time movies. Special thank you to the staff of Brandon Regional Hospital for their ongoing compassion and caring for Joe while he was in their care. They have some very special Folks indeed. Per Joe's request, there will be no memorial service, and as he loved Florida so dearly, he asked that Carol scatter his ashes here, at a very special personal place to them. We will always carry his memory in our hearts forever.
