Joseph E. Burton peacefully departed this life Sunday, October 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born June 20, 1935 in Kingston, Jamaica, Joseph migrated to the US at an early age. He made Springfield, MA his home until he became a resident of Valrico, FL eight years ago. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Francella Burton, his brothers Ezekiel, Hezekiah, and Ernest Burton and his sisters Roslyn Edwards and Matilda Burton. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Beryl Burton; his sisters Louise Phillips, Martha Taylor, Mary Dixon and brother Charles Burton; beloved children Cheri Burton, Steve Phillips, Anthony Burton (Tracey), and Bruce Burton; treasured grandchildren KeAndra Jones, KeVaughn Brown-Burton, Alasia Burton, Zhalyn Burton, Xavier Phillips, Angelique Phillips, Raysheen and Quintela Simmonds; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless others who were blessed to know him. Joseph will fondly be remembered for his love of gospel music, fishing and serving as a Deacon for True Vine Church of God. Joseph was also the ideal employee who worked for many years at James Rivers Corp. and Servus Rubber both in Western Massachusetts, Joseph touched the lives of many people with his smile, kind spirit, and generosity. Visitation and funeral services will be held at 11 am and 12 pm (respectively), Friday, October 21, 2016 at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home, 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, FL 33578.
