Benz, Sr., Joseph A., 71, of Brandon passed away after a long illness on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Born in Syracuse, New York, Mr. Benz had been a local resident for 40 years. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church, a United States Army veteran and had retired as an automotive mechanic. He enjoyed cars, NASCAR, camping and travel. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Linda, son, Joseph (Tessa) Benz, Jr.; daughters, Dawn (Michael) Carlson; Suzanne Benz; brothers, Richard (Paula) Benz; Martin Torzon, sister, Jacqueline (Frank) Biasi; grandchildren, Tyler Carlson; Caitlin Carlson; McKenna Benz; Carly Benz and Addy Benz. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 705, E. Brandon Blvd., Brandon , FL. 33511. A funeral mass will be celebrated following the visitation. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to LifePath Hospice, 12973 N.
