The Uwas Family are saddened to share the passing of John Uwas on 12-25-25 at the age of 72, after a very private battle with cancer.

John Uwas was born in Benin City, Nigeria on January 3, 1953 to Joseph and Alice Uwas Uwadiae. After 17 years, he decided to travel to Europe. Shortly after, he moved to Monterrey, Mexico where he taught English lessons to employees in companies like Coca Cola and Villacero to get money to pay for his education. Later, he attended Tecnologico de Monterrey and Universidad Mexicana del Noreste where he graduated with a Master's in Banking and Finance.

John met Velia at a club proposed to her and were married for 40 years. They lived in Mexico for 25 years and then decided to move to Florida. He worked for Ag Mart Produce for 17 yrs and he retired afterwards. After John retired, his passion was to plant fruits in his garden. He was working on growing passion fruits and got 100 trees blooming.

John  is survived by his wife Velia Huitron, daughters Julliet and Unice Uwas ,grandchildren Ian and Monserrat Alvarez.

Memorial Service will be at 6:00pm, Friday, January 9, 2025 at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park (6919 Providence Rd, Riverview, FL 33578)

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
