Piernikowski, John V., loving husband of Gilda, father of Karen, Diane, Susan (husband David Teslicko), and John (wife Kelly Pitchford), grandfather of 6, and step-grandfather of 3, died peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2011.

John lived a long life dedicated to his loving wife of 61 years and his family. John spent his entire career in management within the trucking industry making a name for himself by leading some of the most successful business for both Highway Express and Roadway. He was a recognized workaholic and was proud that he was able to instill a similar work ethic in his children and grandchildren. When he wasn't in the office you could always find him tending to his and his neighbors' yards, cleaning his car, or helping his children with work on their homes. He also was a Mason and volunteered for 13 years at Brandon Hospital. He loved recording mixed music CDs for his family and friends and praying to the Lord on whom he relied for his inspiration. In his retirement years, he dedicated himself to helping raise his prized grandchildren and caring for his wife as her health declined. He was a hero and a mentor to almost everyone he came in touch with.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 19th at 11:00 AM at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico, FL 33596. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Life Path Hospice House, 3723 Upper Creek Dr., Ruskin, FL.
