John Fred Long III, (JF), 83 years old of Riverview, FL was born August 21, 1939, in Birmingham Alabama and entered God's kingdom Friday, April 7 th , 2023. He spent his life helping others, whether it Was in service at Simmons Loop Baptist Church or helping a friend or neighbor in need. JF was a retired long shoreman, a veteran of the Korean War, as well as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

JF had a happy personality, and he never met a stranger. He always met those around him wit a hearty handshake, warm hug and a welcoming smile. He loved the Lord and loved sharing his Jesu with others. His fun nature was contagious---all the children at church loved his peppermint
handshakes and his antics as Sunday school director were legendary! Second to Jesus, he loved his wife of 57 years, Ann and his family from the depths of his very soul.

JF was loved and cherished by many. He will be missed by all those fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his wife, Ann, and his children John F. Long IV (Jeannine), Amanda Long, Amy Long Pacheco (Dan), (son-in-law Chris Herring), seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Emma McCombs and Dorothy Rose. He now joins in heaven his daughter, Laurie Herring, his parents John and Limona Long, his brothers Ronald and Earl, and his sisters Louise Rowe and Margaret Chancey.

Services will be held at Simmons Loop Baptist Church, Riverview FL on Wednesday, April 19th. Public Visitation 10:30am Celebration of Life 11:00am

There will be a luncheon at Simmons Loop Baptist Church immediately following the interment at Serenity Meadows.
