John Lindsay Keener II, 74 of Valrico, FL went to be with our Lord Saturday, October 15, 2022, at HCA Brandon Hospital. Born in Washington, Pennsylvania, he grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Upper St. Clair High School. John earned his bachelor's degree in journalism at Ohio University. Journalism brought John to Tampa in 1974 to work for the Tampa Tribune.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Margaret S. Keener and his sisters Helen Yates and Lynn Reardon. Living on in his love and memory are his wife of 52 years, Myra J. Keener, daughter Amanda K. Barritt (James), son John L Keener III (Amy), and four grandchildren, Presley and Owen Keener, and Casey and Emerin Barritt.

John worked in advertising and marketing sales for several newspapers as well as mall advertising. He also embarked in several business ventures throughout his life.  His greatest enjoyment has been RV traveling and belonging to Manateean Sams RV Chapter where he and Myra developed many warm friendships. In his later years, he loved to write and paint.  He often would be found sitting on his rear porch enjoying his hobbies and the Florida weather.  John was a big man with even a bigger heart. All who knew him felt his kindness. John was a devoted husband, loving and nurturing father, grandfather, and a loyal friend. He will be missed.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 26th at 10:30 am.
