JENISTA, John Ray "Jack", (Col USAF Ret), 92, of Valrico FL passed away on August 2, 2014. He is survived by his wife Constance "Connie". He was preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years Eudena Jenista. He is survived by their children Barbara (Jenista) Falstad, Sandra (Jenista) Slane, Linda Jenista-Martin, their 6 grandchildren Jay Falstad, Michael Falstad, Robert Slane, Cassie (Slane) Guglielmo, Jennifer (Slane) Porco, Patrick Martin, and 10 great grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by Connie's children Tina Eickermann and Craig Eickermann. John retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Air Force after 27 years of service. During his service, he was awarded many honors, which included the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation with One Oak Leaf Cluster, European Campaign Medal with Three Bronze Service Stars, and the Vietnam Service Medal. As an avid golfer, John was a member of the Buckhorn Country Club. He was also a volunteer policeman when he lived in Edgewater, Maryland. A memorial service will take place on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:00am at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 10:30am until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the John R. Jenista Memorial Scholarship Fund, Northland College, 1411 Ellis Ave, Ashland WI 54806, or to The Lauri Jean Zach Center, Route 1, Glidden WI 54527. Internment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
