Obituary

HOERBER, John L. V, 82, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2007 at his home in Lithia, FL with his family by his side. He was born on May 4, 1925, in Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Gladys (Ryerson) Hoerber, IV and his brother, William Hoerber. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Julie (Raia), seven children, John (Jean) Hoerber, VI,
Kathe (Robert) Mensik, I, Cheri (Kurt) Isgreen, Mark (Beth) Hoerber, Sr. Patricia (Antonio) Zumpano, Mary (Jorge) Milian and Peter Hoerber; 13 grandchildren,Jason, Melyssa, Antonio, Christopher, Alexandra Zumpano; Robert, II and Kristy (Mensik) Stewart; Mark Hoerber, Jr.; John Hoerber, VII and Jacqueline Hoerber; Marissa Isgreen; Katy and Max Milian and 2 great-grandchildren, Robert, III and Brynn Mensik.

John is a veteran of the United States Army having served his nation in World War II with the 94th Infantry Division of the 301st Hdqt. Company. He earned The Purple Heart, Bronze Star, the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was also honored by the countries of France, Luxembourg and Germany.

Following his military service he remained active with the 94th Infantry Division Association, serving in various leadership positions and coordinating several reunion tours over the past several decades.

He was vice-president for Kemper Insurance in Chicago, IL for many years. In 1974 his family moved to Miami Shores, FL where he owned Comprehensive Insurance Underwriters until his retirement in 1990. His son, Mark S. Hoerber, continues to own Comprehensive Insurance Underwriters, Miami Shores, FL.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 12, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 5049 Bell Shoals Road, Valrico, FL. He will be laid to final rest at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
