John Everett Charles of Riverview, 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on December 17, 2015. John was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his surviving family- wife Vicki Gibson Charles, of Riverview; brother Philip Charles of Newsoms, VA; daughter Amy Charles Horn, husband Eddie and John's two well-loved grandchildren Blake and Darren Horn of Chesapeake, VA; son Brian Charles and family of Maryland; and stepchildren Joe Powell and Aimee Ellison with John's four cherished step grandchildren Madison Powell and Devonte, Shaliyah and Makya Ellison - all of Riverview. John was born of Winston E and Peggy A Charles in Pembury, England. He was lovingly raised in Norfolk, VA and graduated from Norview High School of Norfolk, VA. John was proud to have served our country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Little Rock. He served faithfully and well, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. John had an amazing and wonderfully big personality. He was full of life and welcome, enjoying the company of so many old friends and new. He was artistic and giving, he enjoyed crafting woodwork and creating beautiful stained glass pieces to gift to friends and family. John's jovial company and endearing humor will be affectionately missed by all who knew him. Services will be held at Serenity Meadows Funeral Home in Riverview on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 10AM, service will be held at 11AM with the burial following immediately after at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
