Obituary

Joanne Travers Kingston, age 91, of Valrico, Florida, died unexpectedly on January 28, 2022. She was born February 22, 1930 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John A. Travers and Frances Ellsworth Travers. She was a graduate of the Villa Marie Academy and Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. She was married 51 years to her best friend, Jack T. Kingston of Erie.  They shared a truly loving marriage and meaningful life together. She and Jack with their two children moved from Erie to Brandon, Florida in November 1973.  In both places they had countless friends.

An elementary school teacher all of her professional life, she taught at several schools, including Tracy Elementary in Erie and Riverview Elementary in Riverview, Florida and worked as a school teacher into her 80's.  Her passion the classroom, she loved interacting with children until her death.Joanne was extraordinarily kind, compassionate, present, humorous, and giving.  To be with her was always a joy and much fun.  She had a unique ability to connect with others across all generations.  She was a model wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.   She will be deeply missed.

Surviving her is a son, John T. Kingston, a daughter, Marybeth Kingston, a granddaughter, Kristen M. Kingston, a sister-in-law, Mary Ree Travers, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased in death by her husband, Jack T. Kingston, brother, James E. Travers, and sister, Marian Brugger.
