Jian Kang Feng passed away on July 20th, leaving behind a lifetime of love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Born in Shanghai, Jian Kang immigrated to the United States at the age of 38 with his wife, Xiu Lian Pan, and their young daughter, Weiyan. Arriving with modest means and speaking limited English, he faced enormous challenges. Yet he met every obstacle with remarkable strength, determination, and courage. Through hard work, quick wit, resilience, and an extraordinary ability to connect with people, Jian Kang became Head Cook at a large nursing home and built the life he had dreamed of. He embodied the American dream, creating not only opportunities for himself but a lasting legacy for the family he cherished above all else.

Jian Kang's strength was evident not only in the life he built but in the way he lived every day. He faced hardships without giving up, carried the weight of responsibility with quiet resolve, and always found a way to move forward. His family drew comfort and confidence from his unwavering presence, knowing they could always count on him. He taught those around him that true strength is measured not only by perseverance, but by kindness, generosity, and the willingness to put others before yourself.

Jian Kang was full of life, with a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially swimming, taking long walks on the trails hand in hand with his beloved wife, and playing table tennis with her every day. Those moments together reflected the deep partnership they shared and the happiness they found in each other's company. His infectious personality, warmth, and generosity touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Above every accomplishment, however, was his love for his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a deeply loving grandfather who always put his family first. Everything he did was driven by the desire to give those he loved a better life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Xiu Lian Pan; his daughter, Weiyan Gordon; his son-in-law, Patrick Gordon; and his treasured granddaughter, Helena Gordon. They will carry forward the values, love, and resilience that Jian Kang instilled in them every day.

Jian Kang will be remembered as a loving, generous, strong, and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. His courage, resilience, kindness, and selfless spirit leave a legacy that will continue to inspire his family for generations to come. Though he will be deeply missed, his love will remain a constant presence in the hearts of all who knew him.

The greatest measure of Jian Kang's life was not what he built, but the love he gave. His family was his greatest treasure, and they will carry his strength, love, and spirit with them always.
